General:
It is no secret that we love the Technics SL-1300G. It is our favorite new turntable in its price class, offering just about everything you could want from a modern high-end deck. It's also exceptionally rare for us to get one pre-owned.

This turntable includes all of its original accessories and will be shipped in its original factory box.

Mounted is a brand-new Sumiko Starling phono cartridge (a $2,099 value), professionally installed and calibrated using our signature 12-step cartridge setup process (a $390 value). This is a total of $1000 off compared to buying this package new.

The Sumiko Starling is one of our favorite cartridges to pair with this turntable. It features a boron cantilever and Shibata diamond stylus, delivering excellent detail retrieval and tracking precision. We find its price-to-performance ratio complements the SL-1300G particularly well.

More on the Technics SL-1300G:
The version so many have been waiting for, based on the SL-1200GR2 but with the platter and motor from the SL-1200G. No more strobe or pitch slider!!

When you buy a calibrated table from us setup is a breeze and can be done in 15 minutes. We will supply a link to a 5 min setup video that outlines the final steps like putting in the platter and tracking weight. These things are so rugged and well built we are able to ship them all over the world and they arrive perfectly calibrated and ready to rock

Features:
Coreless Direct Drive Motor Achieving Stable Rotation
In the SL-1300G, the use of a coreless direct-drive motor with no iron core eliminates uneven rotation of the turntable known as cogging. Also, the twin-rotor construction reduces the bearing load while maintaining high torque, and reduces minute vibrations during rotation.
Furthermore, the SL 1300G’s motor was redesigned to eliminate subtle vibrations that could affect sound quality. To improve rigidity, the same reinforcement pattern as the Reference Class SL-1000R/SP 10R was used for the coil mounting base.

Motor-Drive System, ΔΣ Drive (Delta Sigma Drive)
Unlock a realm of audio precision with the ΔΣ-Drive – a state-of-the-art system harnessing Technics’ expertise in PWM signal processing. In addition to reducing harmonics, the drive suppresses vibrations from the motor for smoother, more accurate rotation, ensuring a rich reproduction of the music.

THREE-LAYERED TURNTABLE PLATTER
The turntable has a three-layered construction with a rigidly combined brass and aluminium die-cast platter. With a deadening rubber covering its entire rear surface to eliminate unnecessary resonance, thereby achieving high rigidity and vibration damping. This delivers smooth rotational stability and inertial mass surpassing the SP-10MK2, the direct-drive turntable standard used by broadcast stations worldwide, as well as having more than twice the inertial mass of the SL-1200MK5.

TWO-LAYERED CABINET CONSTRUCTION
The SL-1300G ensures high rigidity by using a body with a two-layered construction that solidly unifies the BMC and the aluminum die-cast chassis. Reinforcing ribs have been added between the motor/tone arm on the top panel. This improves rigidity and vibration damping characteristics

HIGH-LEVEL BALANCE ADJUSTMENT
When the weight distribution of the turntable is uneven, excess vibration or noise occurs during rotation, which causes degradation in sound quality. Therefore, the balance of the turntable is adjusted at the factory by using specialized high-precision balance adjustment equipment for each and every item after the turntable is assembled. Turntables that have undergone adjustment are labelled with a sticker reading “BALANCED” to indicate that adjustment has been done.

LOW-NOISE SWITCHING CIRCUIT
Use of a high-speed switching power supply ensures a stable supply capacity and less ripple and humming. Applying a switching power supply to a turntable eliminates the need for a large transformer and countermeasures for the ensuing mechanical vibrations. A switching frequency of above 100 kHz limits the impact of noise on the music playback bandwidth.

CURRENT INJECTION ACTIVE NOISE CANCELLING
This technology combines a noise detection device with an error amplifier. It detects residual noise in the power supply and applies an inverse phase current to remove noise components. It removes low frequency noise more effectively than a regulator to ensure a more ideal power supply.

Tonearm Achieving High Initial Motion Sensitivity
The tonearm, a crucial component for precise reading, tracks the record's rotation. Inherited from Technics, it employs a lightweight, rigid aluminum pipe in the traditional static-balance universal S-shape. Featuring a gimbal suspension and high-precision bearing, it achieves high initial-motion sensitivity through manual assembly by skilled Japanese artisans.
This meticulous construction ensures accurate tracing of record grooves. Plus, it includes an auxiliary weight, providing flexibility for a variety of pickup cartridges

HIGH-DAMPING SILICON INSULATORS
For the insulators supporting the body, the SL-1300G uses special silicon rubber that ensures high vibration damping characteristics and long-term reliability.

HIGH-QUALITY TERMINALS
The turntable uses gold-plated phono terminals for detachable cables, while metal shielding construction inside the case reduces the effects of external noise.

Testing Process:
First we try to identify any mechanical issues, particularly in the tonearm bearings. We check for freedom of movement or any resistance on both the horizontal and vertical range. There is a quick test for this which involves placing the table on its front edge and allowing the arm to swing freely like a pendulum. We then make any adjustments necessary to achieve minimal resistance and sometimes adjust the bearing pressure. On gimbal tonearms we inspect the cone tip with a magnifier.

We then assess the platter speed using one of several methods, the most accurate being playing a test tone on a test record and measuring the frequency output with a frequency counter or oscilloscope. We also utilize test equipment to measure the wow and flutter to ensure it is within spec. We do this for all speeds available for that particular model (33 RPM, 45 RPM, 78 RPM).

Adjustments are then made to achieve proper speed which will vary depending on the turntable's drive design. Some require an adjustment of an internal or external potentiometer, some will require a pulley or motor adjustment. We also inspect the platter bearing to ensure it is properly lubricated, keeping in mind that some bearings don't require lubrication at all

We then inspect the power supply and address any issues with overworked capacitors, particularly on Linn and later Thorens machines which tend to need attention.

On fully mechanical vintage tables like the Thorens TD-124 and Garrard 301/401 we will go thought the entire mechanism. Then replace any worn parts and lubricate all components necessary to ensure smooth operation, speed change, and low mechanical noise.

When fitting a new phono cartridge we will go through our detailed calibration process which can involve as many as 12 steps depending on the tonearm design. We perform this work on our custom turntable calibration rig which was developed in-house.

Some of these steps include:
• Pivot to Spindle Adjustment
• Tracking Force
• Anti-Skate
• Tonearm Height
• Lifter Height
• VTA (Vertical Tracking Angle)
• Azimuth
• Stylus Distance and Overhang

We then do a critical listening test using our test records and our test system to ensure proper sonics.
