Quad ESL-57 Electrostatic Speakers - Upgraded and Amazing

Our pride and joy and a permanent fixture in our listening room.

Upgraded by Quads Unlimited in Longwood Florida, including custom stands, banana connectors, IEC power sockets, panels, protection circuits, and power supplies.

These mods allows us to get the most out of these legendary ESL-57s.  The only way up from here (literally and physically) is to stack two sets of Quads on top of each other which is commonly referred to as "Stacked 57's".

Many people including myself thought that a speaker from this era and this technology would be lacking in bass response.  Boy was I wrong!  While they won't blow the widows out of the room, they confidently provide a substantial and deep amount of bass.

These feature fireplace copper grills, which although they have a few dings and dents from use over the years, look amazing and like absolutely nothing else out there.

According to the Quad website, electrostatic technology goes back to the early 1900's and was initially used only for scientific research, later adapted in the 1920's for condenser microphones, then loudspeaker design when Pater Walker (founder of Quad) created the original ESL.
