General:
If you have been looking to experience the magic of a fully active system without breaking the bank this might be the way to go.

Here we have a set of Keltik speaker configured for active amplification meaning there are no inefficient and innacurte crossovers placed inside. Instead they rely on a stack of amplifiers fitted with frequency crossover cards. This means that each amplifier channel powers each driver in a dedicated fashion with no waste or unecessary work. If you look at most studios, this is the preferred way to execute a speaker, although many studio speaker have the amplifier built inside the speaker which most audiophiles dont want.

Don't be fooled by their simple looks, these speakers are a tour-de-force! Utilizing dual isobaric woofers and external crossovers, allowing them to be powered by no less than FOUR Linn Klout "Linn's Best Amplifier Ever" amplifiers with internal DSP crossover cards built specifically for these speakers. Two amplifiers cover each pair of woofers, the remaining are dedicated as one for the mids, and one for the highs.

Each amplifier has been carefully tested in our lab and is working properly. The drivers are all in perfect condition and the cabinets show little wear and sings that they were well cared for.

Included Items:
- Pair Linn Keltik Speakers
- Four Linn Klout Amplifiers (2 loaded with Aktiv Bass cards, 1 each loaded with Aktiv Treble and Aktiv Bass
- One pair of used grill socks and retention rings
- One pair of replacement grill socks
- Spikes and spike bases for stands
- 4 pairs of Linn speaker cables properly terminated for interfacing the Klouts with the Keltiks

Speaker cables are 6 feet long and have connectors on both ends.  Quantity is 4 (complete set).  You will also need 4 RCA cables to connect the system to your preamp.

Cosmetic Notes:
- The top of each speaker has some light discoloration
- The speakers both have minor cosmetic blemishes on the front surfaces and bases
- Original grill socks show wear but a replacement set is included
- All amps show light cosmetic wear
- One cable has a cracked guard on one of the terminations but this is only for safety and the connector still plugs into the amp with no issues.

The Linn Keltik Aktiv Loudspeaker system is the culmination of many years of experience in driver construction, cabinet fabrication, and active electronic crossover design.

The Keltik is an active system; each drive unit is powered by a separate amplifier. Rather than using a conventional internal passive crossover, the Keltik system employs an active electronic crossover located before the power amplifiers. The Linn Keltik Aktiv Electronic Crossover divides the musical signal into three frequency bands and corrects phase, amplitude and time alignment to match precisely the characteristics of each individual drive unit and feeds each frequency band to the appropriate amplifier.

The Keltik may be powered with a minimum of three power amplifiers, one for each frequency band. Additional performance advantages may be achieved by employing a fourth amplifier to allow each of the Isobarik bass drivers to be driven independently. For most accurate reproduction we recommend the use of Linn power amplifiers from LK100 upwards.

The Keltik employs four Linn-designed drive units. The ferro-fluid ceramic tweeter provides exceptionally low distortion performance even at high signal levels and incorporates an integral airtight enclosure.

The midrange unit features a carbon-loaded cone and strong die cast chassis. This driver is mounted in its own irregularly shaped (no parallel sides) Ku-Stone loaded compartment that isolates it from the pressure changes generated by the bass units.

The two bass drivers are used in Linn's patented Isobarik\* configuration and employ die cast chassis, stiff carbon-loaded cones, large diameter aluminum voice coils and magnets that are nearly twice the size of those
employed in Linn's original Isobarik loudspeaker.

The front baffle is machined from Topan and the front surface is sculptured to reduce diffraction effects. The enclosure is extensively reinforced and veneered inside and out for added strength and stability.

The combination of active electronics, Isobarik bass loading, and Linn's devotion to preserving the integrity of the musical signal sets the Keltik Aktiv Loudspeaker System apart from the competition and provides a level of performance never before possible.

Testing Process:

Our speaker evaluation process starts with a visual inspection of all drivers. We are looking for damaged or deteriorating woofer surrounds, dented tweeter domes, and cone damage. We also inspect the speaker connection points for loose or broken connectors.

After the initial visual inspection we connect the speakers to a reference amplifier with our preferred test tracks. With the speakers placed with proper distance we listen to each driver to make sure that they are producing the intended frequencies with no signs of distortion or rattle. During listening tests with test tracks we check for proper stereo imaging and bass response at various listening levels. If there are any audible signs of issues, the speakers are taken to the bench where we perform a frequency sweep to isolate the issue so that it can be resolved by component repair or replacement.

Our subwoofer evaluation process starts with a visual inspection of all drivers. We are looking for damaged or deteriorating woofer surrounds, cone damage, or rubbing voice coils. We also inspect the input connections for damage.

After the initial visual inspection, we connect the sub at our bench and perform a sine wave sweep from about 200Hz down to around 10Hz. During this sweep we are listening for excessive rattle or other signs of improper function. If the sweep passes, we then increase the input level to evaluate how the woofer performs at high output levels. If the woofer has built in crossover features or multiple connection options these features are tested at this time.

We complete the subwoofer evaluation by feeding the unit with an audio signal in conjunction with our house music system to see how it responds to low frequency content in real world conditions while paired with a full range system.
