General:
While there are plenty of vintage Cornwalls in the market, you're not likely to find a cleaner or better cared set than these.
Most get handed down from generation to generation so they show all the typical scars, dings, and dents of a long tough life. They also often show signs of discoloration from being exposed to continuous sunlight from a nearby window.
We purchased these from the estate of the original owner who acquired them back in 1985, set them in place, and didn't move them again until now!
We call this a "survivor set" which is a term we don't use lightly.
The wood finish is simply gorgeous, unlike any finish you can purchase new today. It has a deep warm patina that only comes from the passing of time.
The drivers are all intact and working like new. No signs of use or abuse present, just as we expected. Grills are also super clean.
In the listening room they sounded like typical Cornwalls, beautiful BIG sound, great for classic rock or jazz, and able to fill a large room with great dynamics and presence.
Date codes indicates these were built back in 1985 in the 38th week. We even contacted the chap at Klipsch who originally tested the speakers and shared a picture (yes he still works there). He commented "that right there is a collectors item".
Best of all, due to their legendary high efficiency, you need very little power to drive these to thundering levels. As low as 10 watts will do the trick, preferably tubes.
Connections are vintage screw terminals but we can supply banana adapters if needed at no extra cost. Just let us know.
A new set of Cornwalls will set you back $6,600. Here's your chance to own a piece of collectible history for a bit less, while retaining 90% of the performance.
These can ship on a pallet anywhere in the world. $600 flat fee within the lower 48 US states. If you're outside of this area email us for a quote. Local pickup welcome, and local courier is also available for an additional fee in our general area.

Testing Process:
Our speaker evaluation process starts with a visual inspection of all drivers. We are looking for damaged or deteriorating woofer surrounds, dented tweeter domes, and cone damage. We also inspect the speaker connection points for loose or broken connectors.
After the initial visual inspection we connect the speakers to a reference amplifier with our preferred test tracks. With the speakers placed with proper distance we listen to each driver to make sure that they are producing the intended frequencies with no signs of distortion or rattle.
During listening tests with test tracks we check for proper stereo imaging and bass response at various listening levels. If there are any audible signs of issues, the speakers are taken to the bench where we perform a frequency sweep to isolate the issue so that it can be resolved by component repair or replacement.
Our subwoofer evaluation process starts with a visual inspection of all drivers. We are looking for damaged or deteriorating woofer surrounds, cone damage, or rubbing voice coils. We also inspect the input connections for damage.
After the initial visual inspection we connect the sub at our bench and perform a sine wave sweep from about 200 Hz down to around 10 Hz. During this sweep we are listening for excessive rattle or other signs of improper function.
If the sweep passes we then increase the input level to evaluate how the woofer performs at high output levels. If the woofer has built-in crossover adjustments or multiple connection options these features are tested at this time.
We complete the subwoofer evaluation by feeding the unit with an audio signal in conjunction with our house music system to see how it responds to low frequency content in real world conditions while paired with a full range system.
