Conrad-Johnson Premier Twelve Tube Monoblock Amplifiers - With C1 Teflon Upgrade and KT120's

These gorgeous C-J monoblocks were upgraded to work with KT120 type tubes, which come pre-installed on both pieces in this listing. 

They were also both officially upgraded to the C1 Teflon Upgrade at the factory, to the tune of $3k for the set.  Read the reviews, these amps are spectacular.

We've been running them in our listening room powering a set of vintage Quad ESL-57's, and they sound magical.  Yes it's a bit more power than they need, but the authority and delivery is much improved over the usual lower power Quad amps we typically use.

Both pieces were working perfectly in our lab where they were tested to their full rated output without any drama or noise.

They're almost perfect cosmetically, except for a slight discoloration on one of the tops, probably caused by a cleaning solution.

The tube cages are included, but they don't fit since the KT120's are a bit taller.  If it's important to you for the tube cages to fit, we could modify them to fit prior to shipping.  We personally think these deserve to be seen in all their glory without the cages if possible.

The overall sound, driving either the Audio Physic Virgos or the Sonus Faber Concerto Grand Pianos, was finely detailed yet rich, open, and transparent, with a lush, mesmerizing midband; deep, well-developed, yet punchy bass; and high frequencies that were fast and sparkly but never bright or aggressive.

The difficult transitions between the frequency extremes and the midrange were carefully accomplished, though the upper midrange exhibited a rich, golden bloom—a sonic bouquet—too subtle to be called a coloration but sufficiently pronounced to enrich brass, strings, female voices, alto sax, and hall ambience with an intoxicating glow."
