Great sounding hi-end classic by Theta Digital, who were known for "Digital Done Right!" 
• the IIIa was the ultimate version of Theta's legendary DS Pro Basic DAC

• fully balanced differential signal path throughout the digital and analog domains (i.e., "balanced the hard way" like in Schiit's top-of-the-line Yggdrasil DAC)
• inputs include optical (Toslink), coaxial (RCA), and balanced (AES/EBU XLR)
• outputs include single-ended (RCA) and balanced (XLR)
• the balanced signal is summed at the single-ended output, so you get the benefits of balanced operation from input to output
• digital tape loop
