The stock SL-1500C includes a very basic Ortofon Red cartridge pre-mounted which fine to get started but this quality turntable deserves a much better cartridge.  The internal phono preamp will allow you to connect this table right to a regular input on your amplifier or powered speaker.  All the optional cartridge we list are MM or high output MC which will work with the internal phono preamp.  If you desire to step up to low output MC drop us a note for a custom quote.  

The sweet spot in terms of price/performace at this level is the Sumiko Blue Point No.3 High which provides MC level performance at a reasonable price.  A significant step up from that would the Sumiko Songbird Hight adding more detail and resolution.  

Our top of the line MM option the super popular Orotofon 2M Black LVB punching far above its weight.

The Technics SL-1500CS is the evolution of the beloved SL-1500C, achieving elevated rotational accuracy through advanced digital control with ΔΣ-Drive. It inherits Technics’ high-end sound quality concept and adds a host of original Technics technologies, such as a coreless direct drive motor and high-sensitivity tonearm. To simplify the playing of analog records, the built-in Phono EQ connects to a wide variety of devices. The SL-1500CS also comes equipped with a high-quality Ortofon 2M Red phono cartridge. Coreless Direct Drive Motor Achieving Stable Rotation

For decades, Technics’ direct drive has delivered accurate, maintenance free rotation. This mechanism, which directly spins the platter with strong torque, has evolved to offer even greater precision with a coreless motor that eliminates cogging.

Ready to Play by Built-in Phono Equalizer

The built-in phono equalizer allows immediate playback without an external preamp. A short internal signal path minimizes noise and preserves signal integrity, while the circuit is fully bypassed when an external phono EQ is used.

Two-layered Platter with Improved Damping

The platter features a dual-layer structure: an aluminum die-cast platter reinforced with reverse-side ribs and a deadening rubber layer. This design eliminates unwanted resonance for a cleaner, more stable playback experience.

Aluminum S-Shaped Tonearm

Crafted from lightweight, high-rigidity aluminum, the S-shaped tonearm utilizes a gimbal suspension construction. The bearing section consists of a machined housing and high-precision bearings to provide high initial sensitivity and precise tracking.

High Rigidity Cabinet

Engineered for "beautiful sound reproduction," the aluminum die-cast chassis is integrated with a specialized ABS and glass fiber material. This two-layer construction significantly increases vibration-damping performance and structural rigidity.

High Damping Insulator

The insulator combines a spring and rubber to provide optimal frequency characteristics. This setup ensures superb howling resistance and effectively shuts out external vibrations, even in high-volume environments.

High-quality Ortofon 2M RED cartridge

Ortofon’s highly acclaimed MM cartridge has been selected for high sound fidelity and more dynamic playback. Bundling this high-quality cartridge with the performance of the SL-1500C will maximize the sound quality of your vinyl records, providing you with audiophile listening pleasure.

Automatic Tonearm

When the tonearm reaches the end of the record, the Auto Lifter function automatically raises the cartridge. This prevents unnecessary wear on your valuable vinyl records and stylus.

By embedding the Auto Lifter function in the base portion of the tonearm, it eliminates direct impacts to the tonearm. Due to a simple design that doesn’t use motor power, the functions required to playback records were kept to a bare minimum, achieving simple and easy-to-use operability.

Eco-friendly Cushioning/Packaging Materials

The SL-1500CS adopts eco-friendly packaging materials to help curtail marine plastics and other environmental problems. The cushioning has been changed from styrene foam to corrugated cardboard, reducing the amount of plastic used by around 70% compared to existing product packaging. We have also taken steps to improve convenience by combining accessories into one box while maintaining the strength of the cushioning to protect against the product’s heavy weight.
