What is AES Digital?
AES digital refers to the AES/EBU (Audio Engineering Society/European Broadcasting Union) digital audio standard.

• AES/EBU is a professional digital audio interface standard.
• It transmits two channels (stereo) of digital audio over a single cable.
• Typically uses XLR connectors and balanced 110-ohm cables, though it can also be sent over coaxial or optical cables with appropriate adapters.
• It uses the AES3 standard (the technical name), which ensures high-quality, low-jitter, professional digital audio transfer.
• Common in studio, broadcast, and high-end audio gear.
• Similar to S/PDIF, which is the consumer version of digital audio (RCA or optical).
• AES is more robust and suited for longer cable runs and professional environments.

Testing Process:
Cables are generally pretty simple and do not require a great deal of testing. We do however perform a visual inspection of all of the connectors for damage or significant wear.

Most power and interconnect cables can be verified with a simple continuity test with a digital multimeter.

Some cables feature dielectric bias systems which are powered by external power supplies or batteries. These devices are checked for proper function where applicable.

We do not perform A/B comparisons of cables in real world conditions, and cannot offer objective observations in this regard.
