Rare but capable speakers from Symdex Audio, first set ever into the shop.
Capable of filling a mid to large room with great natural sound. Designed and built much like a Vandersteen where the money went into the drivers not the cabinet.
We restored the two 12" Audax Bextrene woofers to perfection bringing these speakers to like new factory sound.
Fabric on both speakers is super nice and presents very well. The wood plinths (barely visible) have a bit of separation of the laminate veneer, but were re-attached.
These are rather large and heavy so we are offering them as local pickup only. You're welcome to arrange your own courier for pickup at our shop in Glen Rock, NJ (Roadie, uShip, others).

One of the great little-known floorstanders. These were the last speakers made by Kevin Voecks’ original company that operated up through the late 1990's.
Their dynamic range is remarkable, and listening to live/jazz/acoustic music will raise hairs on the back of your neck.
Symdex Audio Epsilon Features:
• 12" Audax Bextrene woofer in a transmission line enclosure.
• 7" Audax Bextrene dual voice coil midrange inside a dedicated enclosure.
• 1" Titanium dome Audax tweeter mounted on a steel faceplate, and featuring a custom baffle design by Kevin Voecks.
• Midrange and Bass magnets are specially clamped with rods from the rear to reduce back force vibrations.
• Rated at 4 ohms.
Bob Katz of Chesky Records used Symdex speakers for his mastering for some time.
Dick Olsher said of these “they are the best sounding speakers we have ever heard”.
A ‘Bound for Sound’ reviewer called the Epsilon “the most truthful and musical speaker” they have used.

The SkyFi Testing Process for Speakers:
Our speaker evaluation process starts with a visual inspection of all drivers. We are looking for damaged or deteriorating woofer surrounds, dented tweeter domes, and cone damage. We also inspect the speaker connection points for loose or broken connectors.
After the initial visual inspection we connect the speakers to a reference amplifier with our preferred test tracks. With the speakers placed with proper distance we listen to each driver to make sure that they are producing the intended frequencies with no signs of distortion or rattle. During listening tests with test tracks we check for proper stereo imaging and bass response at various listening levels. If there are any audible signs of issues, the speakers are taken to the bench where we perform a frequency sweep to isolate the issue so that it can be resolved by component repair or replacement.
