Parasound Halo JC 2 BP Preamp - Complete and Almost New (2 of 2)
We were going to write some background about Parasound and what we feel stands out about the brand, but their website does it best:
"In the complicated landscape of audio, many companies put stratospheric price tags on great performance. Our mission couldn't be more different. Simply put, we offer the most performance for the money by finding the sweetest spot between price and diminishing returns. We've all been on the consumer side: music lovers, musicians, and audio enthusiasts looking for top-tier sound without breaking the bank.
Everything we do at Parasound is customer-centric because that's how we define value. Most of our customers don't have trust funds and have to work for their money — so we give them their money's worth and then some. Every time another expert compares our product to equipment that costs three times as much, we have succeeded."
A Few Standout Features:
- Home theater bypass enables seamless blending into a digital surround system, functions with both unbalanced & balanced inputs and outputs, and can be assigned to any input.
- 6 pairs unbalanced RCA line-level audio input jacks.
- Each channel's input is switched by its own gold-on-silver contact relay.
- Direct DC servo-coupled, no capacitors in the signal path.
- Premium 4-gang motor-driven analog master volume control.
- 3/8" thick aluminum shielding around audio boards.
- Four 12v trigger output jacks for power amp auto turn-on & a two-way RS-232 serial port connection.
*Please note there is no phono input - however we do have external dedicated phono preamps available separately for purchase.
From an excellent Stereophile JC 2 BP review written by John Atkinson:
"Parasound and John Curl got it very right. And at a price that will be within the reach of real-world audiophiles."
"It's design, circuit layout, and parts choice are unabashedly American."
"...the first aspect of the Halo JC2 that I noticed was the definition and the weight of its low frequencies."
