The DS-3 is a new lightweight compact digital stylus pressure gauge model (precision made in Japan) by Ortofon.
This is a SkyFi exclusive item - only available from us.
The DS-3 is ultra precision non-magnetic instrument that tunes your tonearm to the highest possible degree. The DS-3 scale is factory pre-calibrated for high accuracy measurements with the tolerance of +/-0.01 g, just right for tracking force measurements.
The resolution is 0.01 which is also the right amount for the task at hand. Dont be fooled by scales with a 0.001 resolutions, they are simply not that accurate and will have you chasing an unrealistic target.
The side shelf allows you to take a measurement at the proper vertical position simulating the thickness of a record, which critical.
The display is large and bright allowing even folks with compromised eye sight to get an accurate reading.
We have tested many "Amazon" scales over the years and found most to be questionable. Having the tracking force set incorrectly can damage records, create premature ware on the stylus and result in sub par audio performance.
