The MHP1000 are the only headphones McIntosh ever produced, created as a statement piece rather than a long-running product line. It appears they were manufactured and sold sparingly, making them one of the more difficult to find McIntosh products. This is the first pair we’ve been able to acquire.

Designed to reflect McIntosh’s traditional emphasis on build quality and longevity, the MHP1000 feature a robust, understated design that feels purposeful rather than flashy. Everything about the headphone looks to be really well made metal and leather are used throughout. The headband and hinges in particular are constructed with high-quality materials and it offers a reassuring sense of solidity. When testing, we connected them to our from test rig and thought that they had a nice sense of clarity.

This example is especially noteworthy for its condition and completeness. It includes every original accessory as supplied when new, along with the original presentation box. The box itself is thoughtfully designed, housing each component neatly. It even includes a really cool aluminum stand for the headphones themselves.
