Audio Sculpture Equilibre Tube Amplifier
This is a super rare and amazing amplifier from France.
Until this one arrived, we hadn’t heard of this brand or model.
Searching the internet yields very little additional information, but those that have had the pleasure of hearing one are raving about it. Subsequent models were made by Audio Aero. Currently wired for 120V but can be switched to 220V.
While it is rated at 60W of pure class A output, it performs more like a 100W amplifier. The unique tube combination is not only rare but absolutely genius.
This amp has KT99 (pentode) & EL34 (triode) output tubes tied together for both SLAM and mid-range sweetness. This is brilliant, how come nobody else is doing this? I suspect it’s largely because of the extra cost providing twice as many tubes while not increasing the power.
Whatever the reason, it works like magic. This amp is capable of rocking our Martin Logan CLS speakers without breaking a sweat. We’ve had other name brand 150W amps struggle to keep up in the past, but not with this beauty.
Many compare this build quality to Jadis and I would agree. Component selection and attention the detail is top notch. The heavy transformers put the total weight at over 80lbs.
Condition is fantastic and there are no signs of use or abuse. Everything is clean and perfect. I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed.
The unit was not only bench tested but also spent a few weeks in our listening room where it performed flawlessly with all sorts of speakers from planar to electrostatic.
