General:
The Adcom SXC/VDH Moving-Coil (MC) phono cartridge is a high performance vintage cartridge.

Standout features include a 2mv output along with a sapphire cantilever.

This cartridge was examined under our dedicated shop microscope and appears to have seen little use. A perfect upgrade for someone looking to try a MC cartridge on their 'table.

SkyFi Cosmetic Notes:
Some very light scratches on the cartridge body, overall very good condition.

Brand Background:
ADCOM started in the 70s. Our first offering wasn’t amplifiers but phono cartridges. They were no ordinary cartridges; however, they were extraordinarily musical "moving coil" designs that extracted a lot of information from a record groove. These products were so successful that other companies asked us to begin making cartridges for them, too! And so, we became a manufacturer!

Early Electronics... ADCOM's first electronic product, the groundbreaking GFA-1 power amplifier, appeared in December 1979. It was substantially more powerful than most of its competition at 200 watts per channel and was one of the first "high current" designs available. . Again, it was an affordable and standout performer. Critical response was phenomenal and the GFA-1 became the "hot ticket" amplifier of its day, as did the successor GFA-1A.

Packing:
Will be packed using our highly developed in-house process and custom packing materials.
Testing Process:
We start by doing a detailed physical inspection under light magnification to asses the cantilever condition, its position in the cartridge body, and the condition of the suspension.

We also inspect any coil wires and the output connections to make sure it hasn't been strained. We then perform a light cleaning with specialized agents and very carefully blow dry with compressed air.

Following that, we conduct a thorough examination using our Wild Heerbrugg professional microscope. From there we can asses the wear and quality of the stylus and determine how much use it has seen, and if there are any mechanical issues. We can also identify if it needs further cleaning or care.

We then move the cartridge to a digital microscope where we take photos of the cantilever and stylus for future reference.

Next we move to the test bench where we can check for continuity of each channel and resistance.

On certain cartridges (or if the technician feels necessary) we install the cartridge on a turntable and run several test records to ascertain tacking ability, distortion, and compliance.
