Shure phono cartridges have long been respected by professionals and audiophiles for their performance and value.

The Shure SC35C MM cartridge was made specifically for broadcast use where back cuing and and a super durable stylus is required.

This example is brand new and never has been used. It will come with its original paperwork, accessory bag, and clear cylinder case. 

The cartridge has been examined under our shop microscope and it looks as its NOS and never been used.

The Model SC35C Stereo Dynetic Phono Cartridge has been specifically designed for broadcast studio applications where a closely controlled frequency response and a rugged stylus assembly for back cuing are required.

The blue-colored stylus grip has a cut-away for improved visibility of the irradiant orange-colored stylus tip for accurate set-down in cuing operations.

A heavy-duty cartridge slield serves to minimize stray electromagnetic hum pickup. The Model SC35C will mount in virtually all professional and studio tone arms.

Trackability indicates how well a stylus can follow or track the recorded signals in a record groove without losing contact.

To provide an uninterrupted flow of information from the record, the phonograph stylus must be able to track the grooves.

Mistracking causes the most objectionable form of distortion. The Model SC35C provides high trackability, at a stylus force of 4 grams.

Testing Process:
We start by doing a detailed physical inspection under light magnification to asses the cantilever condition, its position in the cartridge body, and the condition of the suspension.

We also inspect any coil wires and the output connections to make sure it hasn't been strained. We then perform a light cleaning with specialized agents and very carefully blow dry with compressed air.

Following that, we conduct a thorough examination using our Wild Heerbrugg professional microscope. From there we can asses the wear and quality of the stylus and determine how much use it has seen, and if there are any mechanical issues. We can also identify if it needs further cleaning or care.

We then move the cartridge to a digital microscope where we take photos of the cantilever and stylus for future reference.

Next we move to the test bench where we can check for continuity of each channel and resistance.

On certain cartridges (or if the technician feels necessary) we install the cartridge on a turntable and run several test records to ascertain tacking ability, distortion, and compliance.
