Super easy to use and amazing sounding little "do it all" device for your iPhone, iPad, or Mac/PC.
We almost didn't list this to keep in the shop as it sounds SO GOOD with Apple Hi-Res Lossless streaming & downloads via iPhone, iPad, and also Mac/PC.
Included with this listing is the Shift itself, original box, packing, manual, unused leather case, and two USB cables as pictured (Apple Lightning to USB and a USB-B mini to USB-B micro for charging other devices - PC/Mac to USB cable not included).
The SkyFi Testing Process for DACs:
We start with a visual inspection of all internal components to make sure that there are no signs of heat stress or damage. Capacitors are checked for telltale signs of predictive failure including bulging, shrunken wrappers, or physical leakage. We also inspect resistors and other passive components for signs of overheating.
After the visual inspection we connect the DAC’s RCA outputs to our Sencore PA81 Power Analyzer which simulates a real world input impedance and allows us to monitor the output on an oscilloscope. We are equipped to test optical, coaxial, and USB inputs at Redbook CD Quality. We start with a test signal to verify signal lock and proper output on both channels. If the DAC has balanced outputs these are also tested at this time. If the DAC has multiple Optical and Coaxial inputs they are all checked for proper lock. USB inputs are tested with a Macbook Pro.
After proper function is verified, we set the DAC up for a listening test to evaluate general audio reproduction quality and monitor for clicks, pops, or any other audible signs of issues related to dropped signal lock or failing audio output stages. We often connect DACs under evaluation to our long term test rig for a long test stint to verify stability under real world operating conditions.

You love music and are passionate about sound. You have a great Hi-Fi system at home that allows you to enjoy both. If you own a car, chances are you opted for the premium sound system. The “ear buds” that came with your mobile phone - are still in the box. Music is the soundtrack to your life. However, your “on-the-go” listening experience has always been a bit of a disappointment. Your headphones, which sound great with your home system, sound thin and weak when listening from your smartphone, tablet or personal computer. shift is made for you.
Enter the Peachtree Shift
shift is a USB Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) and headphone amplifier housed in a small and portable chassis roughly the size of a deck of playing cards. It is designed to completely bypass the headphone output on your smartphone, tablet or personal computer and provide exceptional sound quality - wherever you happen to be listening. The built-in battery pack provides up to eight hours of playback on a single charge so shift is a perfect travel companion - whether you are commuting to work on a train or taking a flight to visit friends and family. The built-in headphone amplifier powers everything from in-ear monitors to “difficult-to-drive” over the ear designs, and everything in between.
Not Just a Portable Device
shift is designed to be used in several listening situations. Its small size, light weight and real leather exterior lend itself to being a portable device. However, shift can also be connected directly to the USB port on a personal computer to drive your headphones or interface with your powered speakers in a desktop “computer audio” system. The sound quality improvement over using your computer’s headphone output is immediately noticeable! The bottom of shift even includes rubber pads to add protection and stability when it is placed on a desk or table. In addition, whenever shift is plugged into a USB port on your computer it is recharging its internal battery pack so it will be ready to hit the road again whenever you are. Finally, shift features a line-output mode switch so it can used as a USB DAC in your Hi-Fi system. Simply connect your personal computer to the shift and let it provide the analog audio output to your system. We think you will be impressed by how great the shift sounds even when compared against much more expensive dedicated DACs!
Headphone Amp
The Peachtree shift’s headphone amplifier is an ultra-low-noise design that can power any headphone - from sensitive in-ear monitors to power-hungry over- the-ear models. With shift’s dedicated amplifier driving your headphones, you’ll be able to hear your music with superior transparency, imaging, detail and bass response. To help achieve this level of performance, each subsystem within shift’s multi-layer circuit board has been designed to operate with the lowest overall noise floor and distortion, in addition to extensive use of noise isolation techniques to minimize interaction between subsystems.
Reference DAC
shift’s 32-bit/384kHz ESS SABRE32 DAC will make all of your music sound great from lossy compressed files to lossless uncompressed files and everything else in-between. It is compatible with high-resolution music files all the way up to and including 32-bit/384kHz PCM and 5.6MHz Direct Stream Digital (aka double-rate DSD or DSD128)! shift is an asynchronous design featuring two internal clocks that minimize jitter from the source device at all sampling rates. shift also includes an extensive power supply circuit design with multiple stages of regulation and ESS’s patented Hyperstream Modulator and Minimum Phase filters to create natural, lifelike sound from all of your digital files.
Output and Gain
shift uses a microprocessor driven analog volume control that works with the volume buttons and sliders on your smartphone, tablet or personal computer. The variable output mode on shift is ideal when connected to headphones or powered speakers that don’t include their own volume control. The fixed output mode turns shift into a high-performance USB DAC for your Hi-Fi system. Simply connect a 3.5mm-to-stereo RCA adaptor from the shift’s output and feed any available line-level analog input.
DyNEC (Dynamic Noise Elimination Circuit)
for iPhone/iPad
Streaming music on the go is VERY convenient and loads of fun, but most often sounds flat. To assure the best possible sound, the Peachtree shift features the same DyNEC technology found in our Peachtree 2.0 nova amplifiers.
The shift provides a direct digital wired connection for Apple Lightning-equipped devices. Simply use the cable that came with your iPhone or iPad and enjoy your music transformed by shift’s ESS Sabre DAC and DyNEC technology.
By its nature, any screen generates "noise". The power supply is another source of noise. So Peachtree engineers developed DyNEC: the world's first and only system to address and eliminate audible power supply and screen noise. DyNEC is used in our best home amplifiers and assures your music is streamed free of any added noise.
With DyNEC and an asynchronous connection, Peachtree's dedicated iOS input lets you hear your music with all the clarity, dynamics and emotion the artist intended. So in addition to convenience, your iPhone or iPad can now be taken seriously as a high-end audio component.
iOS Charge Mode
shift features a high capacity internal lithium-ion battery pack so it can run for up to eight hours without draining the battery inside your connected device. In addition, shift can trickle charge a connected iOS device. Push the power switch to the "on and charging" setting (battery icon) and it will start to top up your connected iOS device. It could be the difference between a functioning phone or not at the end of a long trip!
