General:
Ortofon phono cartridges have been respected and trusted for a very long time by audiophiles. This particular model is part of the Cadenza series of MC (Moving-Coil) phono cartridges from the brand.

The Cadenza bronze is a great performer with a lightweight cantilever and an exotic replicant 100 stylus.

Best yet, this cartridge was rebuilt by Ortofon themselves so you know you're getting maximum performance.

From Ortofon:
Cadenza, derived from the Italian word "cadence," designates a segment within a musical performance, typically a concert, where the orchestra ceases its play, allowing the soloist to perform independently, unrestrained by a strict rhythmic pattern.

This solo passage, known to as a cadenza typically showcases the most ornate and virtuosic passage performed by the solo instrument throughout the composition. As the cadenza concludes, the orchestra resumes its presence, often bringing the movement to its culmination.

MC Cadenza Bronze adds even more details and resolution but in a very evenhanded way that pays respect to all elements

Accuracy level
The Cadenza Bronze is a true high-end reference cartridge, conveying music with supreme precision, impact, and dynamics.

The Cadenza Bronze model is using a Replicant 100 stylus and a conical aluminium cantilever.

The coil wire is the famous Ortofon Aucurum wire, which is a gold-plated 6NX copper wire.

Field Stabilizing Element (FSE) is used for optimal linearity especially during complex crescendo passages.

The Cadenza Bronze stereo imaging capabilities illuminate the farthest corners of the soundstage in all three dimensions.

The Cadenza Series:
At Ortofon, we constantly look for new technology to be used in our products and push the performance of existing technology. Thus we assure the highest level of performance and quality.

The Kontrapunkt models and MC Jubilee became market standards and are among our most popular cartridges.

Nevertheless, Ortofon decided to develop a new cartridge series that is even more ambitious.

Each of the five Cadenza Series cartridges has its own individual sonic expression, and all five models together represent the ensemble of five classic variations.

The MC Cadenza Bronze adds even more details and resolution but in a very evenhanded way that pays respect to all elements.

Testing Process:
We start by doing a detailed physical inspection under light magnification to asses the cantilever condition, its position in the cartridge body, and the condition of the suspension.

We also inspect any coil wires and the output connections to make sure it hasn't been strained. We then perform a light cleaning with specialized agents and very carefully blow dry with compressed air.

Following that, we conduct a thorough examination using our Wild Heerbrugg professional microscope. From there we can asses the wear and quality of the stylus and determine how much use it has seen, and if there are any mechanical issues. We can also identify if it needs further cleaning or care.

We then move the cartridge to a digital microscope where we take photos of the cantilever and stylus for future reference.

Next we move to the test bench where we can check for continuity of each channel and resistance.

On certain cartridges (or if the technician feels necessary) we install the cartridge on a turntable and run several test records to ascertain tacking ability, distortion, and compliance.
