Plus not only did we install a brand new laser, we took out all of the DVD circuitry that was superfluous to improve pure redbook playback performance. We then covered up the rear openings with a custom form-fitting plate.

* Please note the remote suffers from the typical "gumminess" affecting similar remotes from this era. The back is slightly sticky as a result but otherwise this remote functions properly. If this is an issue you can always use your compatible McIntosh A/V Control Center/Preamplifier remote, or purchase a modern universal replacement by contacting McIntosh directly. 

* This MVP871 was modified in-house for outstanding Redbook/Standard CD Support & Playback Only. 

** However this MVP871 does in fact playback HDCD discs from our basic testing.

The MVP871 has three built-in Burr Brown 2-channel Digital to Analog Converters are capable of sampling rates up to 192kHz with 24 Bits of resolution.

• Balanced Outputs
The MVP871 has Balanced Outputs for the Left and Right Channels when playing a CD.

• Digital Audio Outputs
There are Coaxial, Optical and Digital Audio Outputs for external decoding of Dolby Digital, DTS Digital Signals, PCM or MP3 Signals from CDs.

The Power Control Input connection provides convenient Turn-On/Off of the MVP871 when connected to a McIntosh System with Power Control.

• Special Power Supply
A fully regulated Power Supply, with a special R-Core Power Transformer, ensures stable noise free operation even though the power line varies.

• Fiber Optic Solid State Front Panel Illumination
The Illumination of the Glass Front Panel is accomplished by the combination of custom designed Fiber Optic Light Diffusers and extra long life Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). This provides even Front Panel Illumination and is designed to ensure the pristine beauty of the MVP871 will be retained for many years.
