General:
The McIntosh L72 is one of the most versatile wood cabinets McIntosh ever produced, offering a beautiful way to house both vintage and select modern McIntosh components. The L72 was produced for only about five years during the mid-1990s, and examples have become increasingly difficult to find.

Thanks to its versatile dimensions the L72 can fit a wide range of equipment, including popular models such as the modern C22 preamplifier, C38, and C45.

We've included several photos showing the cabinet with different components from our current inventory to demonstrate its versatility (McIntosh components shown in our photos are for demonstration purposes only and are not included).

Originally, McIntosh offered the L72 for use with models including the:
• C36
• C38
• C40
• MCD7008
• MCD7009
• MX118

This particular example is in excellent cosmetic condition, with only very minor signs of use that are difficult to notice without close inspection.

As a rare bonus, it also includes its original shipping carton  - which is exceptionally hard to find for these vintage cabinets - "Thank You for buying McIntosh" vintage original protective plastic bag., AND the original installation instructions.

*Please confirm compatibility with your specific McIntosh component before purchasing, as dimensions and mounting requirements can vary between models. If you're not sure just contact us as we're happy to help.

SkyFi Cosmetic Notes:
This cabinet arrived in an original L72 shipping carton. It doesn't exactly match the design of the rare and few other L72's we've seen, but because of the provenance and construction we have no doubt this is an original McIntosh cabinet. It has a recessed grill and a very nice solid wood front cap and top corner banding. This is truly a beautiful cabinet.

This cabinet had some very light blemishes on arrival. We treated the wood with Howard's products, which helped mask the light wear.

Overall this cabinet looks stunning.

The original shipping carton is in good condition overall, showing  some minor wear from previous shipping tape and shipping labels. This will ship double boxed to preserve the original McIntosh carton integrity and artwork.

McIntosh components shown in our photos are for demonstration purposes only and are not included.

SkyFi Technical Notes:
The L72 was originally designed for early 1990s components, but it has the correct internal dimensions to fit a wide range of modern McIntosh components. We have photographed this cabinet with a C45 preamp. This cabinet will also fit the current version of the C22 tube preamplifier.

If you're curious if your McIntosh CD Player, Preamp, or other component will fit in this cabinet, please reach out to us to confirm compatibility before making your purchase.
