General:
Outstanding dedicated MC (Moving-Coil) phono preamp from ML with a matching PLS-226 outboard power supply.
This is an incredibly capable unit for use with high-end phono cartridges that require a super quiet and dynamic preamp.
A great match with vintage our No.26 Mark Levinson Preamp available as of this writing, but this can be paired up with just about any preamp with line level inputs.
This phono preamp was showing sings of aging so we replaced all electrolytic capacitors in both the power supply and main unit. No small task but well worth it for a preamp of this caliber. It is now working like new and should stay that way for decades.
We then tested in our lab and listening room, where it was determined to be performing properly throughout.
This listing includes a power cord and the ML umbilical cord.
Camac to RCA converters are *not included and are available separately at $150/Pair.
Technical Notes:
This No. 25 chassis is fitted with a No. 26 board. This unit was either a very late factory run or had a No. 26 board swapped in at some point in the past. The internal markings for loading on the board are not correct. We are including a printed copy of the owner's manual with the correct load & gain setting instructions.
This preamp is factory wired for MC use. We have set the loading for 100 ohm and set the gain for use with cartridges with an output of 0.2 - 0.6mV. If you would like us to configure the device for your specific cartridge requirements please let us know before completing your purchase.
Brand Background:
After working in various recording studios and, as legend has it, creating the sound mixer for the Woodstock Music Festival, Mark Levinson began hand-crafting high-end stereo components. His first product, the LNP-1, was a rack-mounted system with two large VU meters and a high performance op-amp module. And with every subsequent product, the legend grew.
