Luxman CL35 MkIII Vintage Tube Preamplifier With Telefunken Tubes

Sound and Vision did a piece on another CL35 MKIII we currently have listed, which is the same as this listing - but that one was in brand new condition!
This Luxman tube preamp works just as well as the new one, but has the slightest signs of use. While the other CL35 MK III will likely get stuffed away in some closet as a collectible piece, this one is to meant to listen and enjoy.
Best of all this piece is fitted with a very high quality set of vintage Telefunken Tubes. They all tested strong on our modern and professional Amplitrex AT-1000 tube tester.
This also came to us from the original owner who purchased it in back in 1977 and took amazing care of it through today. 44 years young!
It's fitted in a gorgeous wooden case with little signs of wear.
This will ship in the original double high-quality Luxman box. We can also add a 3rd box outer layer if the buyers chooses to protect the original Luxman outer box .
Match it up with one of our period correct Luxman tube amps for a one-two punch - view them all by Clicking Here

SkyFi Service Notes - Categorized as "SURVIVOR"
- Minimal signs of past service. Everything looks original aside from an array of (4) Tantalum caps on the power supply board.
- One top faceplate retention screw apparently seized, and was previously drilled out to facilitate the removal of the faceplate.
- A full set of Gray Ribbed Plate Telefunken tubes is present. (6 12AX7, (1) 12AU7).
The SkyFi Testing Process for Preamplifiers:
We start with a visual inspection of all internal components to make sure there are no signs of stress or aging. Capacitors are checked for telltale sings of bulging or leaking, resistors are checked for signs of overheating or cracking, and transistors are checked for signs of stress or damage. Special attention is paid to the power supply which is the most common source of failure for preamps. We then power up the unit and run a simple 1k sine wave while monitoring the low voltage output on an oscilloscope for signs of distortion or noise to get a baseline.
At this point we will lubricate and clean all switches and potentiometers (that are not sealed) with a high quality contact cleaner, and then re-test all functions for any signs of noise or scratching.
Final testing involves putting actual music through the preamplifier. We have learned over time that some issues are only noticeable to a trained ear while listening to a familiar source material. Our test bench has reference vintage KEF speakers that we are super familiar with which will quickly reveal any discrepancies. Some preamps will then move into the listening room where they will be tested with our in-house reference system.
