General:
Beautiful sounding, looking, and very sought after 30th Anniversary Edition speakers from French maker Focal in a deep red finish.
These are the 826W variant (not to be confused with the 826V), featuring an improved mid and bass driver construction found in the higher end Focal lineup.
The previous and experienced audiophile owner reports "they have an excellent sound. Very Focal, which is neutral and very clear. Although not so clean as to be harsh or tight. Bass response is plentiful but not overstated as in most Americanized speakers geared for hip hop."
Your purchase includes the speakers, grills, and original adjustable spikes with the adjustment tool (attached to the inside of the grills).
We do not have packing materials so these are local pickup only.
Standout Features:
• High-end design, affordable luxury
• Speakers designed and manufactured by Focal
• W cone: the best of Focal technology originating from the Utopia III line
• Acrylic body, Black High Gloss finish
More from a Stereophile review by Robert Deutsch:
The Chorus 826W 30th Anniversary is a floor-standing three-way design featuring a 1" aluminum-magnesium inverted-dome tweeter, a 6.5" cone midrange, and two 6.5" cone bass drivers. There are two ports: one downward-firing, and one front-firing, "for bass impact." The speaker includes a cast aluminum base, which allows it to be easily leveled and ensures that there's enough space for the downward-firing port to perform its function.
These high-tech drivers have a core of closed-cell foam enclosed in layers of resin-impregnated spun glass on the inside and the outside. (The W stands for double verre, or "double glass" in French.) Manufacturing is quite complex, and takes about 30 minutes per driver. The claimed advantages of the W-sandwich design are low mass and exceptional rigidity. This, in turn, is said to improve dynamics and definition.
The second difference between the 826V and the 826W is cosmetic: the finish of the 826W is to a higher standard, with optional red or white sides available only for the 826W. The review samples had black sides, which are fine, but I've seen the red-flanked model and like their extra touch of drama. The rest of the speaker is finished in shiny black acrylic, which has quite an elegant effect.

The SkyFi Testing Process for Speakers:
Our speaker evaluation process starts with a visual inspection of all drivers. We are looking for damaged or deteriorating woofer surrounds, dented tweeter domes, and cone damage. We also inspect the speaker connection points for loose or broken connectors.
After the initial visual inspection we connect the speakers to a reference amplifier with our preferred test tracks. With the speakers placed with proper distance we listen to each driver to make sure that they are producing the intended frequencies with no signs of distortion or rattle. During listening tests with test tracks we check for proper stereo imaging and bass response at various listening levels. If there are any audible signs of issues, the speakers are taken to the bench where we perform a frequency sweep to isolate the issue so that it can be resolved by component repair or replacement.
