Wonderful, almost vintage tube preamp from CJ.
Please note this is the "L" Line Stage version which does not include a phono section.
In great overall condition, just a small nick on the top edge of the faceplate (see pics).
From a Stereophile review written by Robert Deutsch:
"It should be obvious to anyone who hasn't skipped the body of this review (If you have, go back and read all of it RIGHT NOW!) that I was extremely impressed with the Conrad-Johnson PV11. If the term "musicality" has any meaning in the context of reproduction rather than production of music, then surely the PV11 can be said to embody this characteristic. That is, with the PV11 in the system, I found it easier to sustain the illusion that I was listening not to the product of a complex electromechanical encoding/storage/playback technology, but to music, played and sung by people."
PV11 SPECIFICATIONS
Gain: High level 18 dB
Output: Maximum 20V
Phase: Line stage inverts phase of all inputs.
Hum and noise(20Hz-20KHz): Line level:92 dB below 2.5V output
Distortion: THD less than .25% IMD less than .25%
Output impedance: less than 500 ohms
Dimensions: 19"W x 3.5"H x 12.5"D
Weight: 13lbs.
FUSE: The AC line is fused to protect the PV11’s transformer. This fuse will not fail in normal operation. Failure of the fuse is a symptom of a more serious problem, indicating the need for qualified service. IN NO EVENT SHOULD THE FUSE BE REPLACED WITH A FUSE OF DIFFERENT TYPE OR RATING THAN THAT SUPPLIED BY THE FACTORY. The PV11 uses a 3/4 amp 3AG slo-blow fuse (1/2 amp 3AG slo-blow for 220V operation).

The SkyFi Testing Process for Preamplifiers:
We start with a visual inspection of all internal components to make sure there are no signs of stress or aging. Capacitors are checked for telltale sings of bulging or leaking, resistors are checked for signs of overheating or cracking, and transistors are checked for signs of stress or damage. Special attention is paid to the power supply which is the most common source of failure for preamps. We then power up the unit and run a simple 1k sine wave while monitoring the low voltage output on an oscilloscope for signs of distortion or noise to get a baseline.
At this point we will lubricate and clean all switches and potentiometers (that are not sealed) with a high quality contact cleaner, and then re-test all functions for any signs of noise or scratching.
Final testing involves putting actual music through the preamplifier We have learned over time that some issues are only noticeable to a trained ear while listening to a familiar source material. Our test bench has reference vintage KEF speakers that we are super familiar with which will quickly reveal any discrepancies. Some preamps will then move into the listening room where they will be tested with our in-house reference system.
