Sweet and classic late 1980's looks on this vintage Luxman Receiver. Made in Japan! Great match to the Luxman D-111 CD player that we also just listed.

Period design and desirable features include the vacuum-fluorescent display, direct input and source selection buttons, knob tone controls, plentiful AM/FM station memory buttons, and of course a volume knob with a red LED to indicate status.

It also features a great built-in phono stage to connect to your turntable, AND an external connection meant for a graphic equalizer. Old school graphic EQ's are really starting to make a comeback, with rising prices across the board for desirable models.

150W x 2 into 8 ohms, 210W x 2 into 4 ohms, and stable down to 2 ohm loads with 270WPC! Low THD of 0.03% too.

Features some pretty interesting "special features" for its time:
"CD Straight" offering a direct connection from the CD input terminals to the volume control is provided to bypass the input selector, tape dubbing switch, signal processor, sub-sonic filter, and balance control.
High Current, High Speed Power Amplifier utilizing a differentially-connected dual FET input stage and push-pull driver and output stages, with power transistors for drivers and dual paralleled output transistors.
New 5 Varactor Dual-Gate MOSFET FM Front End - Improved FM reception is obtained with a new tuner design using dual-gate MOSFET devices for both preselector and mixer stages, and five-gang varactor turning instead of the usual four-gang.

Please see our tech specs photos towards the end or check out the linked manual below for full details on this vintage receiver.

The SkyFi Testing Process for Receivers:

We start with a visual inspection of all internal components to make sure there are no signs of stress or aging. Capacitors are checked for telltale sings of bulging or leaking, resistors are checked for signs of overheating or cracking, and transistors are checked for signs of stress or damage.

We then power up the unit carefully and run a simple 1k sine wave while monitoring the output on an oscilloscope for signs of distortion or noise. Finally, we run the amplifier to its full rated power into the appropriate resistive load provided by our Sencore amplifier tester. If there is an issue, it will usually be noticeable at this point. If everything reads clean, we will often test for THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) measured by our Keithley distortion meter, and compare it against the original manufacturers specifications. The amplifier then remains powered on to "burn in" on our test bench for a few hours to make sure there are no heat related issues. If there are balanced inputs available they will be also be tested.

Then the tuner is thoroughly tested in our lab utilizing our professional Sencore SG80 FM Generator, which allows us to generate a reference FM signal of any frequency and amplitude, and then measure the resulting tuner output on our Sencore PR81 or oscilloscope.

Final testing involves pushing actual music thorough the receiver We've learned over time that some issues are only noticeable to a trained ear while listening to familiar source material. Our test bench has reference vintage KEF speakers that we're very familiar with which quickly reveal any discrepancies. Some receivers will then move into our listening room where they are tested with our in-house reference speakers of choice.
