• HDMI Audio/Video Switching with Up-Conversion Processing
There are eight HDMI Inputs with Digital Video Conversion Circuitry with scaling of the video input signal from 480p up to 2160p 4K Video Resolution.

• Digital Audio Decoders
The MX160 also provides built-in decoding of the latest Digital Audio Signal Audio/Video Formats from Dolby, DTS and Auro 3D. These include Dolby Atmos, Dolby True HD, DTS-X, DTS Master HD and Auro 3D Sound. It can also decode Dolby Upmixer, DTS Neo:X and Cinema, Music and Game. Digital Audio Streaming via the USB PC Input Streaming includes processing Digital Audio Signals up to 192kHz with 24Bit resolution.

• RoomPerfect Automatic Measurement
The RoomPerfect Automatic Measurement System provides precise adjustment of Loudspeaker Volume Levels, Time Delay and Equalization for all channels. Supplied Calibrated Microphone with stand/boom allows for the multiple room measurements for precise adjustments. 

• Input Selection
There are 7 Analog Audio Inputs (one eight channel), 8 Digital Audio Inputs and 8 Digital Video Inputs. The MX160 has the ability to add 64 phantom Inputs which can be titled and matched in level, so there are no abrupt changes in volume levels between the different Inputs. Any unused input can be “turned off” so the input selector will skip over it.

• Balanced Audio Inputs and Outputs
Two pair of Balanced high level Inputs and sixteen channel Balanced Outputs allow long cable lengths without a loss in sound quality.

• Moving Magnet Phono Input

The SkyFi Testing Process for Processors and Preamplifiers:
We start with a visual inspection of all internal components to make sure there are no signs of stress or aging. Capacitors are checked for telltale sings of bulging or leaking, resistors are checked for signs of overheating or cracking, and transistors are checked for signs of stress or damage. Special attention is paid to the power supply which is the most common source of failure for preamps. We then power up the unit and run a simple 1k sine wave while monitoring the low voltage output on an oscilloscope for signs of distortion or noise to get a baseline.

At this point we will lubricate and clean all switches and potentiometers (that are not sealed) with a high quality contact cleaner, and then re-test all functions for any signs of noise or scratching.

Final testing involves putting actual music through the preamplifier. We have learned over time that some issues are only noticeable to a trained ear while listening to a familiar source material. Our test bench has reference vintage KEF speakers that we are super familiar with which will quickly reveal any discrepancies. Some preamps will then move into the listening room where they will be tested with our in-house reference system.
