An excellent modern tuner from McIntosh that perfectly matches your other Mc gear, new or vintage. Superb sensitivity and noise rejection for bringing in even the most distant stations. Will require a good quality antenna for optimum performance, or just a simple whip antenna to do a good job bringing in your nearby stations.
The solid MDF and Walnut veneer cabinet was handmade to fit perfectly with this piece, and features a bronze metal vent on the top. It is of the highest quality, much better than the cabinets that were sold by McIntosh in the 70's and 80's. This cabinet by itself cost $400 to make.
This tuner is in near-mint condition with no signs of use or wear. The glass is perfect and the cabinet does not have any deep scratches or dents.
Thoroughly tested in our lab utilizing our professional Sencore SG80 FM Generator, which allows us to generate a reference FM signal of any frequency and amplitude, and then measure the results of the MR85 tuner output on our Sencore PR81 or oscilloscope.
This unit passed with flying colors and produced a natural and warm sounding output.

Performance Features:
• Flywheel Manual Tuning
A newly designed, optically encoded weighted flywheel system makes dialing in stations an easy job. Reminiscent of the dial-cord flywheel tuning method found in classic McIntosh Tuners.
• Custom Preset Naming
All 9 AM and 9 FM station presets for each tuner module may be custom labeled with any desired name up to 8 characters. For example, FM Preset Number 3 (92.50MHz) can be renamed JAZZ 7, or WXYZ.
• Optional Second Tuner Module
A second fully independent McIntosh TM1 Tuner Module may be added to the MR85 by your dealer. This is ideal for applications where two tuners may be used at the same time, such as Multizone Systems or listening to one station while recording another station. The TM1 is the most economical way to add a second high performance McIntosh Tuner to a system.
