This is the king daddy of the EV Patricians featuring, and I kid you not, 30" low bass woofers.

That's right 30" which is the largest woofer we've had at the shop!

That not all, it also has a 10" upper woofer to fill in a few hundred hertz above. This combination mated with their acclaimed mid-horn and tweeter makes this vintage speaker relevant by today's standards.

No thin bass and overly bright mid horn sound here, this is a full range speaker capable of filling a large room. In addition you can corner mount this speaker in your room for an extra punch.

Note these speakers require a large room to breathe properly. When I stepped back in our large warehouse space the speakers simply lit up. Any close-up listening just didn't the speaker justice.

We went through every driver to confirm proper operation, and had one of the 10" woofers serviced by the acclaimed crew at Millersound in PA which made it look and work like new. All drivers work perfectly, and have no signs of aging.

The cabinets are a mixed bag. From the front they both look really really nice. We installed new vintage looking fabric which makes them look the part yet neat and tidy. The sides also cleaned up nicely. The tops do have some scratches and scuff marks that were touched up which makes them look good at 5 feet, but not upon close inspection.

The SkyFi Testing Process for Speakers:

Our speaker evaluation process starts with a visual inspection of all drivers. We are looking for damaged or deteriorating woofer surrounds, dented tweeter domes, and cone damage. We also inspect the speaker connection points for loose or broken connectors.

After the initial visual inspection we connect the speakers to a reference amplifier with our preferred test tracks. With the speakers placed with proper distance we listen to each driver to make sure that they are producing the intended frequencies with no signs of distortion or rattle. During listening tests with test tracks we check for proper stereo imaging and bass response at various listening levels. If there are any audible signs of issues, the speakers are taken to the bench where we perform a frequency sweep to isolate the issue so that it can be resolved by component repair or replacement.
