General:
The Aurender N100C is a very capable music storage and streaming machine. It can store thousands of hours of music inside its small chassis.
This is the perfect device for someone that has a large digital music collection. So Instead of searching through your large CD collection for a specific album or track, with the press a few buttons on your Apple iOS or Google Android device you're on your way.
This particular N100C is fitted with a 4TB (4,000GB) internal hard drive which was the largest drive available with this player when new. Plus it has a second dedicated 120GB SSD caching drive which is a nice addition for speed in searching and playback.
Please note this is a network transport meaning there are no analog outputs, only digital outputs. You need a digital to analog converter (DAC) which is not included in this listing to send audio to the rest of your system.
From Aurender:
Aurender N100C seamlessly replaces your aging computer. Your music will now be stored on the N100’s internal hard drive, available in either 2TB or 4TB capacity with a 120GB solid state (SSD) caching drive performing all file playback for superior fidelity and reliability.
Management of your digital music library and Tidal lossless streaming service is simple and intuitive, thanks to our award-winning Aurender Conductor app. And all major digital file formats are supported at native bit and sampling rates.
Housed in beautiful machined aluminum casework, the N100C will compliment your existing system components and deliver a new level of musicality you have to hear to believe.
The N100H and N100C digital music players incorporate technology derived from Aurender's best-in-class models. For example, the solid-state (SSD) 120GB caching drive for playback eliminates latency and the potential of drop-outs often associated with using IT storage devices like NAS and USB drives for music playback. Dedicated high-performance Audio 2.0 USB digital audio output or SPDIF Coax feature ultra low-noise power circuitry to deliver a pristine digital stream to the connected DAC. The N100H and N100C greatly benefit from “trickle down” technology from our far more expensive models making them both deliver audio performance that belies their cost.
The N100C has both USB and SPDIF digital coaxial (RCA-type) outputs, providing additional connectivity options with, for example, legacy DACs that don’t have a USB input or to interface with active loudspeakers with built-in D/A convertors. Either model can be specified with 2TB or 4TB storage capacity and silver or black finish.

Testing Process:
We start with a visual inspection of all internal components to make sure that there are no signs of heat stress or damage. Capacitors are checked for telltale signs of predictive failure including bulging, shrunken wrappers, or physical leakage. We also inspect resistors and other passive components for signs of overheating.
After the visual inspection we connect the DAC's RCA outputs to our Sencore PA81 Power Analyzer which simulates a real world input impedance and allows us to monitor the output on an oscilloscope. We are equipped to test optical, coaxial, and USB inputs at Redbook CD Quality.
We start with a test signal to verify signal lock and proper output on both channels. If the DAC has balanced outputs these are also tested at this time. If the DAC has multiple Optical and Coaxial inputs they are all checked for proper lock. USB inputs are tested with a MacBook Pro.
After proper function is verified, we setup the DAC for a listening test to evaluate general audio reproduction quality and monitor for clicks, pops, or any other audible signs of issues related to dropped signal lock or failing audio output stages. We often connect the DAC under evaluation to our long term test rig for a long test stint to verify stability under real world operating conditions.
