System of the Week from our Favorite Client

This System of the Week comes from our favorite client that we've had the pleasure of working with over many years.

We started off with a McIntosh C1100 Stereo Tube Preamplifier dedicated to analog sources, along with the killer McIntosh MP1100 Tube Phono Preamplifier dedicated to the McIntosh MT10.

We clearly remember this system included our very first McIntosh MT10 Precision Turntable, purchased immediately after its stunning introduction. The glowing platter caused quite the commotion in the workshop during calibration and testing with lots of stares. We love the platter speed display presented in a McIntosh-style blue meter, along with the high-end MC (Moving-Coil) phono cartridge.

The McIntosh D1100 Digital Preamplifier is designed to mate perfectly with the C1100, but can also operate as a standalone reference level DAC.  It accepts up to 32-bit/384kHz signals via USB, and decodes all popular DSD/DXD super-fidelity formats.

The amplifiers carefully selected for this system are a pair of the quintessential classic McIntosh MC-275 75W x 2 Stereo Tube Amplifiers, but both are configured in mono to individually feed 150W of glorious tube-defined power to each Sonus Faber speaker.  We highly recommend!

Speakers are the hand-made in Italy Sonus Faber Amati Tradition (from the Sonus Homage Collection), in a newly introduced Wengè wood glossy finish.  Wengè was newly introduced within this collection and is "a new essence of wood darker than the classic walnut, but still warm and elegant."

Rounding out this beautiful system is the matching McIntosh MPC1500 Power Controller with "...a large but quiet toroidal isolation transformer" to remove any noise from incoming power.  Surge suppression is super high-end, controls all of your McIntosh components to power-on by just turning one knob, and the blue meters show voltage and realtime current draw in cool fashion.
