General:
Our demo pair of La Scala AL5 are officially up for sale at 25% off. Besides some very light scratches they are beautiful condition and sound fantastic! These were on our showroom floor for about 6 months are were used sparingly and just about broken in now.
Included will be their original boxes and manual plus the original factory full warranty.
My favorite speaker in the Heritage lineup, and by far the most surprising.
Same high and midrange performance of the venerable Klipschorn in a more pleasing and manageable cabinet.
While their low-end response on paper is listed at 51Hz, don't be fooled, these speakers have more punch and impact than others rated at 30Hz.
I suspect it's because of the crossover and cabinet design, or perhaps the magic dust Klipsch sprinkles on every speaker.
Our listed price is for a pair of La Scala speakers.
These speakers will ship for FREE anywhere within the lower 48 US states wrapped and strapped to a pallet via freight. If you're in Alaska or Hawaii please contact us for options. We cannot sell or ship new Klipsch outside of the USA and you should contact the local dealer in your county to purchase.
From the new Stereophile review by Alex Halberstadt:
“The Klipsch La Scala has been in constant production for 59 years, longer than all but a tiny handful of audio products, and this is surely not an accident. They aren’t perfect, and they require a large room and a suitable amplifier, but they offer the closest thing I’ve heard to a musical performance taking place in my home. They do this as reliably with a solo violin as they do with Minor Threat. Best of all, they provide as direct a route as I’ve found to hours of musical engagement—to emdoying what some Samuka -san described as “endless energy with sorrow,” to which I would add love, rage, humor, and elation. $13,198 is an investment, but it will buy you one of the world’s most sonically irrepressible and musically communicative speakers. It just may sustain you for life.”
THE MOST VERSATILE KLIPSCH CREATION
Originally designed for professional use, the Klipsch La Scala has proven itself as an outstanding choice for the audiophile as well. The La Scala brings the most subtle musical details to life, always delivering the legendary Klipsch sound with clarity and ease. On a single watt, it generates 105 decibels of sound pressure, which means that the La Scala will delight the listener even while using the most modest amplifier power.
DESIGNED AND MADE IN THE USA
The La Scala loudspeaker is built to rigid Klipsch standards — the toughest in the industry! Remember great sound? We do, too. The Klipsch La Scala II enclosure is still made in the USA, by proud craftsmen in Hope, Arkansas. Just like Paul W. Klipsch intended.
FEATURES
NEODYMIUM TWEETER
The La Scala features a neodymium tweeter with a 1” polyimide diaphragm and copper clad aluminum voice coil. This lightweight diaphragm assembly and high strength magnet structure creates the tweeter’s high 105dB sensitivity and makes it the most efficient consumer tweeter in the market. When coupled to a 90° x 40° Tractrix® horn, the tweeter sets new levels of performance for dynamic range and output.
MIDRANGE
According to Paul W. Klipsch, “the midrange is where we live” and is one of the most critical parts in any loudspeaker design. The La Scala’s midrange utilizes a 2” compression driver mated to a high efficiency exponential horn that maximizes the system’s power and performance. As a result, less distortion is produced by the amplifier and by the loudspeaker. That means clarity, accuracy and remarkable tonal definition.
BOOK-MATCHED WOOD VENEER
Klipsch only uses book-matched wood veneers for the Heritage series. The veneer leaves are kept in order as they are delicately sliced from the timber and precisely arranged to provide a mirror image at the splice joint — like turning the pages of a book. This gives each speaker an aesthetically appealing and consistent appearance that is treasured more than any other cut of wood veneer The LF and HF cabinets are also matched for continuous grain and color from top to bottom.
BI-AMP INPUT PANEL AND BINDING POSTS
The La Scala’s premium, aluminum input panel accommodates large, high-quality speaker cables. Strong, versatile and quality binding posts provide the capability for bi-wiring or bi-amping.
MATCHED PAIRS
Each pair of Heritage series loudspeakers is grain-matched, using wood veneer panels that come from the same timber. Each cabinet is carefully matched so that each speaker in the pair is practically indistinguishable from the other. The speakers move seamlessly together through the factory, and each finished product is inspected and labeled with sequential serial numbers, ensuring that your Heritage series speaker leaves the factory as a meticulously crafted set.
BUILT TO LAST
While each and every component of the La Scala is built to last, Klipsch has always recognized the unique and critical role of a loudspeaker’s cabinet in the sound reproduction process. From the craftsmen in Hope, AR to the engineers in Indianapolis, Klipsch has always put an extraordinary emphasis on cabinet design. The La Scala II enclosure is assembled using only the highest-grade adhesives and fasteners. This is a speaker you will hand down from generation
to generation.

Testing Process:
Our speaker evaluation process starts with a visual inspection of all drivers. We are looking for damaged or deteriorating woofer surrounds, dented tweeter domes, and cone damage. We also inspect the speaker connection points for loose or broken connectors.
After the initial visual inspection we connect the speakers to a reference amplifier with our preferred test tracks. With the speakers placed with proper distance we listen to each driver to make sure that they are producing the intended frequencies with no signs of distortion or rattle.
During listening tests with test tracks we check for proper stereo imaging and bass response at various listening levels. If there are any audible signs of issues, the speakers are taken to the bench where we perform a frequency sweep to isolate the issue so that it can be resolved by component repair or replacement.
Our subwoofer evaluation process starts with a visual inspection of all drivers. We are looking for damaged or deteriorating woofer surrounds, cone damage, or rubbing voice coils. We also inspect the input connections for damage.
After the initial visual inspection we connect the sub at our bench and perform a sine wave sweep from about 200 Hz down to around 10 Hz. During this sweep we are listening for excessive rattle or other signs of improper function.
If the sweep passes we then increase the input level to evaluate how the woofer performs at high output levels. If the woofer has built-in crossover adjustments or multiple connection options these features are tested at this time.
We complete the subwoofer evaluation by feeding the unit with an audio signal in conjunction with our house music system to see how it responds to low frequency content in real world conditions while paired with a full range system.
