One of the most powerful and full featured integrated amps that McIntosh ever made that's also one of our favorites.

Utilizing McIntosh unique Autoformer tech this amplifier offers 250 x 2 at 2/4/8 Ohms, and features a High-quality phono input, two balanced XLR inputs, and one XLR output to feed an external amplifier should you desire.

The built-in easy access equalizer lets you get the most from your speakers, while the large handles and bright meters look amazing.

Best of all, you won't find a built-in DAC that will outdated in a millisecond. This is an all-analog class AB design featuring beefy output transformers, capable of delivering 250 pure watts to any speaker.

The only bummer is that to get something this well built its gotta weigh in at close to 100lbs. Good thing they thought of providing handles!

In overall Very good to excellent cosmetic condition with no signs of use or abuse. Testing and working just as you'd expect in our lab and listening room, featuring that signature sweet McIntosh sound.

It will arrive to you in an original double heavy duty McIntosh box with a brand new slim line remote we just ordered.

When this was last available from McIntosh it sold for $8,500.

McIntosh MA7000 Manual

Now you can take advantage of traditional McIntosh standards of excellence in the MA7000 Integrated Amplifier. The Power Amplifier section of the MA7000, with a power output of 250 watts per channel, will drive a pair of quality Loudspeakers to a high level of performance. The flexible Preamplifier section provides connections for various input sources and may also be used to drive an external Power Amplifier. The MA7000 reproduction is sonically transparent and absolutely accurate. The McIntosh Sound is “The Sound of the Music Itself.”

Performance Features
• Power Output with Patented Autoformer
The MA7000 consists of a 250 watts per channel stereo Power Amplifier with less than 0.005% distortion. The McIntosh designed and manufactured Autoformer allows connection of 2, 4 or 8 ohm Loudspeakers.

• Electronic Switching and Balanced Connections
The Preamplifier uses Logic Circuits controlling Electro- magnetic Switches on all inputs and operating functions for reliable, noiseless, distortion free switching. There are two Balanced Inputs for connection of source components and a Balanced Preamplifier Output for driving an external Power Amplifier.

• Power Guard
The patented McIntosh Power Guard circuit prevents the amplifier from being overdriven into clipping with its harsh distorted sound that can also damage your valuable loudspeakers.

• Sentry Monitor and Thermal Protection
McIntosh Sentry Monitor power output stage protection circuits ensure the MA7000 will have a long and trouble free operating life. Built-in thermal protection circuits guard against overheating.

• Special Power Supply
The large Power Transformer, multiple filter capacitors and regulated Power Supply ensures stable noise free operation even though the power line varies.

The SkyFi Testing Process for Integrated Amplifiers:

We start with a visual inspection of all internal components to make sure there are no signs of stress or aging. Capacitors are checked for telltale sings of bulging or leaking, resistors are checked for signs of overheating or cracking, and transistors are checked for signs of stress or damage.

We then power up the unit carefully and run a simple 1k sine wave while monitoring the output on an oscilloscope for signs of distortion or noise. Finally, we run the amplifier to its full rated power into the appropriate resistive load provided by our Sencore amplifier tester. If there is an issue, it will usually be noticeable at this point. If everything reads clean, we will often test for THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) measured by our Keithley distortion meter, and compare it against the original manufacturers specifications. The amplifier then remains powered on to "burn in" on our test bench for a few hours to make sure there are no heat related issues. If there are balanced inputs available they will be also be tested.

Final testing involves pushing actual music thorough the amplifier. We've learned over time that some issues are only noticeable to a trained ear while listening to familiar source material. Our test bench has reference vintage KEF speakers that we're very familiar with which quickly reveal any discrepancies. Some amplifiers will then move into our listening room where they are tested with our in-house reference speakers of choice.
