Great "vintage on the cusp of modern" System Control Center / Preamp from McIntosh.  Overall simple operation and includes a phono preamp which was rare in this era.

Serviced and working perfectly. No scratches or or signs of heavy use. The AC plug was replaced, and this listing also includes the original remote.

Total of eight sets of RCA unbalanced inputs (one is a dedicated phono MM/Moving-Magnet input), three RCA unbalanced outputs, and it even has a set of balanced XLR outputs that is rare at this price point.

In addition to the standard volume and source selector knobs, there are tone controls, balance, and loudness controls directly and easily accessible from the front panel.

Plus a headphone output with a low impedance recommendation per the manual, and a mono pushbutton to sum the left and right channel signals together for mono signals at the Main Balanced and Unbalanced Outputs.

TUNER CONTROL:
Connect a Mclntosh W102 Tuner Control Cable from the TUNER CONTROL connector to a connector on a compatible Mclntosh tuner such as the MR7083. This allows you to select and control tuner operating functions with the C712 hand held remote controller transmitting to a C712 IR sensor.

CD1 / CD2 CONTROL:
Connect a Mclntosh Model W101 CD control cable from the CD1 or CD2 CONTROL connector to a matching connector on a Mclntosh CD player or changer. This allows you to control CD player functions with the C712 remote controller transmitting to a C712 IR sensor. You could use CD1 for a single play CD player and CD2 for a CD changer.

DATA PORTS:
The eight DATA PORTS provide data signals to be fed to compatible audio and video accessories. This allows you to control the accessory components with their own remote controllers transmitting to a C712 IR sensor.

The SkyFi Testing Process for Solid State Amplifiers:
We start with a visual inspection of all internal components to make sure there are no signs of stress or aging. Capacitors are checked for telltale sings of bulging or leaking, resistors are checked for signs of overheating or cracking, and transistors are checked for signs of stress or damage.

We then power up the unit carefully and run a simple 1k sine wave while monitoring the output on an oscilloscope for signs of distortion or noise. Finally, we run the amplifier to its full rated power into the appropriate resistive load provided by our Sencore amplifier tester. If there is an issue, it will usually be noticeable at this point. If everything reads clean, we will often test for THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) measured by our Keithley distortion meter, and compare it against the original manufacturers specifications. The amplifier then remains powered on to "burn in" on our test bench for a few hours to make sure there are no heat related issues. If there are balanced inputs available they will be also be tested.

Final testing involves pushing actual music thorough the amplifier. We've learned over time that some issues are only noticeable to a trained ear while listening to familiar source material. Our test bench has reference vintage KEF speakers that we're very familiar with which quickly reveal any discrepancies. Some amplifiers will then move into our listening room where they are tested with our in-house reference speakers of choice.
