We acquired these beauties from the original owner who took very good care of them. Condition is very good with only the slightest signs of use.

These don't come up for sale very often so if you've been looking for a set this is your best option.

These have been tested and also featured in a very special SkyFi binaural recording featured on our YouTube channel:

Every driver works as it should and shows no signs of aging or deterioration whatsoever.

The cabinets are made of extruded and machined aluminum making them one of the heaviest and most inert speakers we've seen to date.

Included in this listing is the speakers and a set of original spikes as shown in our photos.

We didn't inherit the original special Krell shipping crates & packing materials, so this listing is for local pickup only from our shop in Glen Rock, NJ (Northern NJ near NYC).

However if you're out of reach we can get you a quote from our local Craters & Freighters for proper packing.

From The Absolute Sound
The Krell LAT-1000 is Dan D’Agostino’s effort to bring the same kind of no-holds barred approach to speaker design that he has brought to his Evolution Series electronics. He led the design team and voiced the speaker using Evolution gear— some of the best equipment around—and though the LAT-1000 is by no means the most expensive speaker ever made, at $55,000 it is costly enough to put it firmly in the “superb or failure” category of high-end products.

More from the Krell LAT-1000 Owner's Manual:
The LAT Series of Loudspeakers
The LAT–1000, a reference-caliber loudspeaker, employs an all-aluminum enclosure that remains sonically inert, with a baffle that absorbs vibrations and houses custom- made drivers, and a robust, high-power crossover—a loudspeaker capable of handling the legendary power of Krell amplifiers, while maintaining pinpoint accuracy and resolution.

Innovative Loudspeaker Technology and Design
Crossover
The LAT–1000 crossover features robust construction that divides the circuit among three discrete circuit cards—one each for the woofer, midrange, and tweeter networks.

Enclosure
Continuing in the tradition of the Master Reference Subwoofer, a LAT Series loudspeaker enclosure is constructed entirely of aluminum. “Aluminum is the best material for the job,” C.E.O. Dan D’Agostino explains. “Other than concrete and lead, which are not practical choices, aluminum is the only material that possesses the ideal combination of structural rigidity and resonance damping characteristics. Within the audio passband, our cabinets are sonically inert—something you cannot say about any wood or wood derivative.”

Krell’s knowledge of aluminum extrusion technology has yielded an enclosure that is as purposeful as it is beautiful. Computer-optimized geometry eliminates standing wave interference. A rear-firing, tuned port on the LAT–1000 is precision machined. A substantive aluminum baffle, rear plates, bottom, and top comprise an enclo- sure that is immune to vibration. Articulating spikes allow the LAT–1000 to be precisely leveled for the most accurate imaging and reduced vibration. A special sub- enclosure in the LAT–1000 houses the drivers for the midrange and the tweeter. This computer-modeled, welded aluminum case effectively isolates the midrange and tweeter from the main enclosure while providing an ideal operating environment for the midrange drivers.

Drivers
The LAT–1000 tweeters are a 1’” ring radiator design with a machined aluminum faceplate and phase plug. The 5.25” midrange drivers fea- ture magnesium cones coupled to a rubber surround, and an injection molded metal basket that is extremely rigid as well as acoustically transparent. The 8” woofers are designed with low loss linear suspension and aluminum cones, and a unique spider configuration dampens driver-born resonances. All drivers have very high power handling characteristics.

Each LAT–1000 loudspeaker measures 12.5 in. (31.8 cm) wide by 54.6 in. (138.7 cm) high by 14 in. (35.6 cm) deep with an estimated weight of 270 lbs. (122.7 kg).

Each LAT–1000 shipping crate measures 24 in. (61 cm) wide by 61 in. (155 cm) high by 24 in. (61 cm) deep and contains one LAT–1000. The combined weight of the crate and loudspeaker is approximately 340 lbs. (155 kg).

The SkyFi Testing Process for Speakers:

Our speaker evaluation process starts with a visual inspection of all drivers. We are looking for damaged or deteriorating woofer surrounds, dented tweeter domes, and cone damage. We also inspect the speaker connection points for loose or broken connectors.

After the initial visual inspection we connect the speakers to a reference amplifier with our preferred test tracks. With the speakers placed with proper distance we listen to each driver to make sure that they are producing the intended frequencies with no signs of distortion or rattle. During listening tests with test tracks we check for proper stereo imaging and bass response at various listening levels. If there are any audible signs of issues, the speakers are taken to the bench where we perform a frequency sweep to isolate the issue so that it can be resolved by component repair or replacement.
