Krell Monoblock Amplifiers with 200W Class A Amplification!!

A perfect fit to drive your Apogee speakers...

The KMA-200's are one of Krell's early amplifiers, and many people believe they were some of the best sounding. They pump out 200W which isn't much for an amplifier in this size and weight by today's standards.  But they do so in pure Class A operation, which produces an unbelievable amount of current and therefore they are capable of driving the most difficult loads.  From the look of the power transformer, size of the capacitors, and output copper buss bars, it looks like you could arc weld with these monsters.  Folks with Apogee speakers often search these out for this reason, and as a result they are becoming harder and harder to find in decent shape.

Cosmetically, unlike later Krell amplifiers that were finished in black and dark gray, this model features a refreshing silver casing with a silver faceplate and gold accents.  Even the screws are gold plated... they look like a million bucks.  While there are no significant scratches or dents on the faceplate, the tops have a few scuffs, but nothing major.

On the back you’ll see the usual stuff like dual RCA jacks that are gold plated, banana speaker outputs, and 5-way binding posts.  You’ll also notice from the gold tags that these are consecutive serial numbered units.  I'm guessing these are from the early 80’s... the golden days of Krell.

Functionally they are working as they should.  Just returned from being serviced by a local Krell expert and they are performing to spec.  We tested them in our lab to their full rated power without any signs of distortion or noise.  The super quiet internal fan did a great job at keeping air moving, but you will need to make sure and place them where the top and bottom covers are not obstructed to allow for proper air flow.

One of the positives about amplifiers from this era is that they are simple in design and parts selection.  So if they ever need service just about any repair shop can handle without the need for specialized parts.

These amps are super heavy so they will be carefully packed on a pallet and shipped via freight for safe transport.
